Does anyone have experience with the Block apartments downtown? They seem a little pricy but I don't think the location can be beat. Here's a link to their site: http://blockapts.com/

If you have other suggestions for apartments that are within walking distance to the circle I would be glad to hear them.

What do you consider waking distance, 1 mile or 1 block?

So as not to limit the options you provide lets define walking distance as "the distance a reasonable person would consider walking on a daily basis to and from work."

I know a couple of people who live at Riley Towers and love it. They sure do maintain their sidewalks and I am so appreciative of that. The outside is always clean and neat. They were recently featured in an article in the paper.

The strange thing about Blocks are the complaints about the ventilation from some of the restaurants next door. Someone said they had major issues inside their apartment with the smell at the Blocks apartments.

I think there is a big apartment called Harness Factory Lofts or Harness Lofts off of Pennsylvania. Nice big windows looking east over Penn Street.

Reasonable is also a funny word. I personally have no problem walking 4-5 miles round trip and would consider more if the route was right. Walking is such great exercise and it's really calming to me compared to traffic.

Anyway, the Lockerbie Court Apartments seem nice, I was going to move into them, but decided to buy a house instead. http://lockerbie.pinnprop.com/ (broken link)

Also Vermont place: http://vanrooy.com/vermont.html (broken link)

Both are very close to the circle.

That also links to The Continental, which is a great apartment building I lived in a couple of years ago. It has a very nice gym (actual weights!), free tanning beds, parking garage, and fronts Meridian St. about 3 blocks from the Circle. It's within Walking distance to the Canal, Mass Ave, Circle Centre, South Meridian club district, Conseco Fieldhouse, etc.

I stayed in a 2-bedroom with a couple. The rent was $995 and both bedrooms were bigger than most master bedrooms in huge houses. I had friends whose apartments faced Meridian and the war memorial, a very nice view unless you hate parks and monuments.

There are quite a few apartments along the canal which are definitely within walking distance to the circle. Riley Towers are also within walking distance.
