We are moving to the Avon area and will have plenty of time to choose where (in Avon) we eventually end up.

One of the possibilities is going with a custom home. With that in mind, does anyone have direct experience with custom builders in the Avon area?

Also, are there any decent areas around Avon that have raw land available?

Thanks!

RM

I absolutely cannot more highly recommend RLS builders. Our home in Avon was built by them & when we bought it (new), the inspector said in his 20 years in the profession, it was quite possibly the best built home he's ever seen. Even after our 2 year warranty was up, they continued to help us out with anything we needed. Our sump pump went out one morning in a thunderstorm. Bob (the owner) personally drove out to us at 7am from Danville to bring us a new pump. We had lightening strike the dormer off our garage & did some minor damage. I called RLS & left a message asking if they could recommend someone I could call to make repairs. The next day, a crew of men showed up at my house & fixed everything on the spot. Again, no warranties or obligations from RLS- that's just how they do business. 5 years later, we still get Christmas cards & even once a potted plant left on my porch as a 'Thank you' from them. Just great, honest folks- If I ever built another home in Hendricks County, I would no doubt use RLS again. There is no other option in my opinion

Wow, what a glowing reccomendation, I'm going to have to go check them out!

After looking at their site, I do know of this builder, he came to our office and talked to us during a sales meeting, both neighborhoods mentioned on their site are amazing, both North Forest Commons and Wexford are awesome.

Thanks for the information, acegirl.

Does anyone know anything about Drees? I was looking at the area they are developing in Avon, and found very little negative feedback about them anywhere on the Web.

Drees is not a custom builder.

Not necessarily custom, but I am fascinated by the Brookstone homes at the back of "Woodcreek Crossing". In the front of the neighborhood are Drees brick homes, but in the back are these great craftsmand style homes. (Photo by William Wade)

Nice Craftsman style home, but when I look at the outside all I can think of is "high maintenance".

I prefer brick or stone, myself, but it is a nice looking home.

And yes, I realize that Drees is not a custom builder, but I do like the homes they are building in the development in Avon.
