I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I think most friends will have an opinion on where you should live for a variety of reasons. There are good places all around Indy. I would personally avoid areas of extreme poverty, places like Washington Street, some of the larger transient apartment complexes, etc.

There are quality managed complexes all over. There are great places to buy in any price range on all sides of Indy and even downtown.

Many complain that the whole downtown is riddled with crime. I live downtown and find it extremely quiet with easy access to a lot of cultural events and easy access to all other parts of town. Our decision was based on being as close to work as possible to limit commuting cost and time.

So take a lot of what is said with a grain of salt and make your own determinations.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Just be happy you're leaving California now that it's in shambles (and getting worse).

I would ask those friends if they have ever been to Indianapolis. You will have no problems

As a former San Diego resident... Congrats! IMO, you're getting out of Cali just in the knick of time!

That socialist state is broke and in big trouble. Looting, riots, and murder... let the games begin!

You shouldn't have any issues. Just be very careful what neighborhood you choose if you move within the 465 loop, and stay away from near eastside.

For the 1,000,000th time, you'll be fine. In fact, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised
