Hello,

I am visiting Indy soon and was wondering if there are any famous spots near downtown Indy that provide scenic views of the downtown area? Could anyone provide some nice photo spots near downtown? Won't have much time to dedicate to photos but would like to get to some quick spots for some nice full frame views of the downtown area.

Thanks

A lot of people like to shoot the skyline from the canal area. Some go a little farther toward the north end of it (Indianapolis Skyline from Canal on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/45821139@N00/145281997/ - broken link)) or (Indianapolis skyline on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/pjern/1508107085/ - broken link)) , but most I think head west of downtown by the Indiana State Museum. Here is one of mine from that area (IMG_1788 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/32838849@N08/4123791582/in/set-72157622766780789/ - broken link)).

There are some good spots further west as well if you walk over toward White River State Park and near the zoo (Indianapolis Skyline from NCAA Headquarters at White River A on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/45821139@N00/145285032/ - broken link)) or (Indianapolis Skyline on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jkhering/3579778675/ - broken link)).

Another spot which is a little farther away is in Crown Hill Cemetary up on 38th St. This place has the highest elevation in town up where James Whitcomb Riley is buried and a wider view of the skyline if you have a clear day and a decent camera (indianapolis skyline. on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/agnisflugen/3364726506/ - broken link)).

One last spot I might recommend checking out is just north of downtown near the library (Indianapolis Alignment on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/vanrooy/3010148141/ - broken link)). That one's in HDR, but you get the idea of what a normal shot could be like.

Hope that helps.

Can't believe I forgot to include this one. It's one of my favorites (152/365 - Black & white in the Circle City on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougwaggs1972/4661957632/in/faves-32838849@N08/ - broken link))
