Maybe if they were watching a bit more closely, 10 people wouldn't have died in Sante Fe.
The problem wasn't that they weren't watching, the problem was that they were watching what they weren't supposed to, instead of watching what they were supposed to.

But that's OK, they "have your permission" to continue to waste resources on political objectives, instead of fighting crime and terrorism...

They should add "school" to their catch words.

Having studied this subject since the 90's, I can tell you that, unless you are of significant interest to the authorities, they don't read everything that you write on line. They do scans at random, but don't have the bandwidth to scan it all.

As for catchwords, they use somewhat sophisticated algorithms, just like I do. For instance, they might look for b--b in conjunction with sch--- but skip any message that has the word "test" in between them.

Trouble is, in at least a couple cases, they caught all the right words, and even questioned the perp, but let him go, in favor of more politically pressing targets.

I have to give them credit though, being that so many americans are accepting and even applauding things like this, it just proves how effective their brainwashing and conditioning truly are, founding fathers must be rolling in their graves!!

Again for the 2nd (3rd?) time, we are talking about FACEBOOK. Anyone who expects privacy on FACEBOOK is a moron.

You have a point there. While the NSA doesn't read everything on Facebook they can read anything on Facebook (and so can hackers from a dozen other countries). It would be virtually impossible to keep something like that secure enough that it couldn't be read by someone who had sufficient motivation.

Some years ago I think it was Popular Science or Popular Mechanics that tested this by typing in some keywords. According to them, Secret Service paid them a visit. Echelon was already a sophisticated program way back then. I can only imagine how much more advanced spying technologies have become since.

Yes, it has gotten more sophisticated, but none of that sophistication is really necessary, if people keep leaving the door open

Facebook finds itself in hot waters again. With the now infamous Cambridge Analytica breach still fresh in people’s minds, Facebook has now inadvertently made the private posts of some 14 million users on its network publicly visible.

So rather than being shared with a small group of family and friends, these posts — including photos and videos — were made available for everyone to see.

Who cares if someone is monitoring what I put on social media? I don't put forward anything personal or what I don't want 'out there'.

Ridiculous what people get their knickers in a wad about!!!
