I recently tried to set a unique website address to my Business Page on my never used Facebook account. In order to do so, they asked to verify my account by providing my phone number so they could send me a text message. I guess my password is not enough?
Does anyone know if there is a way around that?
If not, that is another reason for me to avoid the Evil Empire altogether.

Thanks.
They were asking you for a phone number to verify you are the actual owner of the company and/or have trail of who is registering it. This is common practice so they can insure you aren't someone like the competition trying to create fake business page. If I recall making some changes to the information listed for a business on Google they didn't even give you choice of what phone number to call but robocalled the business phone directly.

That actually makes sense and since my phone number is listed on the page I suppose it isn't the typical Trojan Horse effort to infiltrate and harvest information that Facebook usually engages in.
