Can you give us some examples of the best ones? There seems to be fewer smaller ones than there used to be, sometimes they have a different name but powered by a larger provider. And most have limited storage capacity. At least from what I've seen looking around.

I never liked Yahoo very well. They say it used to be one of the easiest to get into, not sure about anymore.

I've had Yahoo since around 1998 and was happy with them but lately with all the changes I'm not so sure. They seem to be more into news and trying to tell me what I am interested in than just plain email. I have to look all over the screen to even find the mail link.

I'm worried that it's going to disappear because they always want me to agree to something and I don't do it. I think the whole internet has gone downhill with the loss of the variety and type of search engines we used to have and the emphasis on games and other things that interfere with trying to get some actual work done. As for email, I have also had hotmail or whatever they call it now--Live? and that's getting weird too.

Yes indeed.... The internet has become a big spying/spam collection place! (Especially for those in the states)

Have yet to get the new message & agreement ToS thing from Yahoo email.
I've had an email acct with them since 2003 or 2004, lately been having many instances
where it tries to load/display an email (which I've clicked on to open),
then it gives me the error msg. saying "loading is taking longer than usual. Retry ?"-
I don't know what that's all about or why it's happening so often, all of a sudden.

Yeah, I've never liked web-based email systems either; too much clutter and I never felt like I needed all the news, ads, and other stuff that one finds in a place like Yahoo or Hotmail. I used Eudora as long as it was viable and then when I upgraded to a new iMac, I switched to Mail. Everything is right here on my computer, where it should be.

I do have a 'throw-away' GMail account which I use for certain things sometimes. But now even they keep bugging me for more information linked to my ISP. Nope, not gonna do it.

Oh, and I switched some time ago to Startpage for my search engine; it's fast, neat and doesn't track where I go.
