I am 3 weeks in a new job, and I haven't given out my email for anything that I can think of. I did update my linked in with the company name, so I guess someone can troll linked-in and call the company's main number and ask for me. Unreal.
I received an email from a person at an investment firm this week, and just put it into junk mail. The today this person called me, and I answered. As soon as he introduced himself, I politely said "I don't know how you got my name or email, but please don't call me again. " I then hung up.
Within 3 minutes of hanging up I started receiving spam emails with associated emailings. I put them into junk and unsubscribed from about 25 newsletters.
I am assuming this person did it due to the sequence of events. I'm not sure if I can do anything to prevent this, but is there?
I doubt his IT Department will want to change his email address.
But you should start with them, they may have a solution.
