Why the HECK would I want to tag someone's photo?

Agreed. Because of that there is not a single picture of me on FB. In fact, I doubt there is a picture of me anywhere on the Internet, and I plan on keeping it that way.

I"m not sure what this has to do with "data mining" or even Tagging in general. Why would they display the message to people other than the photo owner?

I don't have a problem tagging someone in principle. They have the control over whether they want the tag to remain, assuming they understand the privacy controls.

I'm curious though. Is it really an automatic form of facial recognition? Are computers that smart?
