Winter holidays are around the corner and most of us spend this time with our family, loved ones. Most people have to travel on this period of time and in this case, have no choice but to use unfamiliar wifis. I can't stress enough how IMPORTANT it is to make sure your data is safe at such times. I did my own research on how to stay safe from cyber attacks.
Here's my insight:
1. Use some sort of password vault. For example LastPass, Dashlane, 1Password.
2. Always activate two-factor authentication if possible.
3. Use a VPN. A virtual private network also helps you overcome restricted content such as USA Netflix while abroad. I'm planning on getting one myself, here's are the best deals IMO right now:
Says I was breached. In January of 2017 at a site I've never been to. Password has been changed at least 10 times since. Same with my backup email account
Then I was offered a password vault product. Free for 30 days. No mention of the cost after that.
Meh. If they won't publish the price up front I'll pass. Mine is free and works just fine.
But given that being online and using technology is such a big part of one's life. Everyone should take sometime to understand the basics.
These tools are there to simply make the process easier/automated. But it shouldn't be used blindly. Not saying everyone needs to be an IT expert, but at least understand at a high level what these tools are for, and learn a bit about the discipline behind it. This will help you make better decisions.
Of course, one can say the same thing about cars. Most people know to step on the gas to go and brake to stop. But very few knows the concept behind how all that works....

If I understood what he said about his methods of gathering information,
it isn't always the site he lists that was the origin of the info, but rather
where he found the breached info, which means someone cloned your
info from some other site to the one he listed, and it got breached.
(Yes, that would technically be two breaches)

Same could be said about the water out of your tap.
Most people have no clue how it gets there or how it was treated.

If it was I never found any indication of it causing me problems.

The thing is, anybody can log in to the dark web and find the stolen data from that particular hack for sale. In this case, I or anybody else can find your login/password if wished. This could potentially damage your other accounts or data.

No they can't. that was almost two ago and all my passwords have been changed multiple times since the date shown.
Trying to make a point without reading the entire post? Not a valid argument. Being paranoid is one thing, but worrying about something that cannot possibly harm you is ridiculous.
This is the length of my current email password
************************************************** *
Explain to me how getting an outdated unused password can could potentially damage my other accounts or data. Better yet explain to me how getting a current email password can do that.

One of the most common problems with asking questions on a forum.
As for damage they could do if they got your current
email password, that would depend. If you have a password
reset function that uses your email, it could conceivably
be harmful, and that is how the majority of people are
set up. I know you have other safety measures, of course.
My current password isn't as long as yours, but is still
well out of reach for current cracking capabilities.
