What do you think, it's that time again when politicians play politics on our dime...

Well, its going to be nice theatrics (like a summer blockbuster hollywood movie) but at the end all's going to end well.

If you received a paycheck from the government, and a shutdown meant that you didn't have income, you'd give it a bit more thought, I would guess.

I find the whole shutdown idea to be like small children who think if they can't have their way, they will throw a temper tantrum to GET their way. It is exactly that level of immature thinking.

I think this is largely irrelevant for the market.

Well since we are an investing subforum paychecks wouldn't play into this for most. Outside of that a savings account should shore up cash flow issues

No the dems are successfully flipping it on the gop when they run out of money
The problem is we have a spending problem
It's a plague that will eventually destroy the nation
But like all great empires before us first it will cripple and humiliate us

Yes,

The problem is a few days later they restart the government, and give back pay to everyone.

I think we shutdown every Department / Agency for a month (not at the same time) and see if we miss it.

so I get furloughed? okay...

each time there is a shut down, the government pays out more money than if it didn't shut down... so any debt issues are not the concern of the party shutting down the government.

GOP is relegated to petty things like this instead of actual governance, why even let them into government then?
