I have a feeling that this is just another bear market rally. If I'm wrong, great. If I'm right, I'm glad I picked up some more TLT . What do you think of this global stock rally? Another one seemingly fed by credit rather than fundamentals.

every bear market rally i ever saw always looks false . you never know when it is the real deal back up since markets recover while everything still looks horrible . i think tlt can have a nasty drop once the money stops being scared .

How is buying on a 1% drop a 'dip'?

It's still over 7%+ YTD.

Domestically I think the US is humming along. Central America is actually doing extremely well. South America.... on life support. Europe, meh, Asia, sick. Not sure what to make of it yet. China has created many bubbles, but they're still a powerhouse. Look for India to overtake China as far as growth goes.

I've got 13% of my stock portfolio invested in India . That's way more than in the emerging market indices but I too think it has the best opportunities.

I liked TTM when it was in the 20's. Had my finger over it at $20.50 last month but decided to back off since a lot of their revenue comes from China as well, and I'm against investing in countries that aren't transparent. The day afterward I bought BAC instead. Both have performed equally well (so far) but I do expect TTM to outpace BAC over the longer term if China can get back on track.

Yeah, but they wouldn't raise rates unless the global economy is at least reasonably healthy, which should be good for stocks, especially commodity stocks. That should compensate for losses in TLT.

wrong , that statement is nonsense , the fed raises short term rates and they can have nothing to do with long term rates which are moved by fear , greed and perception of future inflation ..

i suggest you look at the actual data .

since the 1980's every time the fed raised short term rates more then 1% in a year bonds did well except one time in 1994.

higher short term rates act as a drag on inflation and bonds like that .

here are the results of every increase by the fed greater than 1% and its effect on bonds.

the middle column is how much the fed raised rates , the last column is how much bonds returned in that year
