Most of the people taking SS early--before full retirement age (like my sister did)--need the money because they can't afford to pull money from savings or for some reason can't work...

I am not denying that what you say about delaying SS is bad advice or incorrect
But there are plenty of people who can't afford to wait even those 4-5 yrs from FRA to 70

And FRA comes later than 65 now for people getting close to retirement
And future FRA is being discussed as even older--
I think people will take it earlier--if that is allowed--and not even wait for FRA

Many of these people work physical jobs and beat themselves into physical disability
They can't continue to work at a demanding job as they age and I think we all know that it is more difficult for seniors to find jobs--especially those that pay more than minimum wage...

So yes--waiting until you are 70 to draw your SS annuity is a good tactical choice IF someone can afford to do it...
Personally my own personal SS annuity would be reduced because of my teacher's pension
I collect my spousal SS benefit and will never file for my own SS benefit because I would lost money...

Most people really can’t afford to delay and stop working .. if they can’t afford to delay they sure as heck can’t afford to buy a life annuity either.. no matter how many years they delay , even if 2 or 3 years the delaying would still be better than buying a life annuity .

But like I said most really can’t afford to do either without over spending what they have
