If the original poster is simply buying a new house and selling the old one, they may as well do so now while prices are high. If your prediction comes true and housing prices collapse, then the lower price for the new home will be offset by the lower sale price of their existing home.

In a sellers market that is near impossible to do. And much depends on the price range.

Each local market will react to the stock market differently. The correlation tends to be low. It's noticeable in this area, but was not in others I have lived in.
