What liquidity issues? You are confusing liquidity with solvency. If one is broke, they can't have liquidity issues.

It's just that there are no buyers of some assets such as muni bonds and this will force the assets to be sold at a steep discount. The Fed is willing to hold such assets as collateral to prevent a dislocation of the market.

Yeah, for those who couldn’t tell that he was lying through his teeth, I can see how it can appear reassuring.
Can’t blame him though. The point of this charade is to reassure the public and stop the run on banks.

If you have 5 , 10, or 20 if you're not buying you will view this as a huge mistake.

Good luck!
Think so?

Cash is still the medium of exchange to buy assets.

A Russell 2000 ETF as well--that index is down 40% and small stocks usually lead the way out of a bear market.

If you're a trader or will freak out if you cant get the bottom then no, but lets take a step back folks, this is not the end of the world!

I thought he was mostly truthful except for when asked "Overall, are you optimistic or pessimistic?' His answer, of course, was that he was optimistic -- but it certainly didn't convince me.

He's a super smart guy, and it was an informative interview, IMO.

He said “Over all”, not “of course”;

Exactly. He’s either a moron or a liar.
With his credentials, fed president and rocket scientist, you know he’s not stupid so clearly he’s a liar.

This is true, but it still rung hollow to me. I don't blame him if he was in fact forcing himself to appear optimistic, but I have my doubts about the truthfulness of that.
