I still don't get how people think they are going to save the planet, by buying an electric car, when most of electricity is still generated by coal and natural gas. And then there are the lithium batteries and their poisons to be dealt with "down the road". People are either being fooled, or are buying a Tesla for other reasons. But hey, I could have bought this at $700 and held on and made money, and didn't, so maybe I'm wrong.
EVs produce much less CO2. As energy production becomes more renewables based (plus batteries), CO2 emittance will really drop (also drop the CO2 due to production of EVs). Batteries can be mostly recycled.
The point is, EVs + renewables have an obvious trajectory to significantly reduce CO2 emissions in the energy and tranpsportation sectors.
I don't see why Tesla can't be larger than Apple. How much does a household spend on phones per year? $400 to $600 if they replace the phones every 2 to 3 years.
Each household spends $10,000 a year in transportation include vehicles, fuel, insurance. Tesla will win 20% of the EV market which will over take ICE cars some time in the 2030s. Once they have Autonomous Taxis which takes away the 75% driver cost, many people don't have to own car anymore.
I don't count on this too much. Tesla doesn't have an edge in this area which is extremely competitive. Hard to beat heavily subsidized Chinese companies in Solar. In batteries, they have to buy from Panasonics and other Chinese companies.
EV and Autonomous driving are where Tesla will win.

Tesla doesn't have a manufacturing edge, but I could see them taking advantage of their software and distribution, especially when you start looking at concepts like a distributed power grid. Apple AirTag tracking devices were so effective out of the gate because they were able to leverage the existing network of iOS devices, which are everywhere. Tesla already has hundreds of thousands of batteries in people's homes, and that number is growing. As Tesla works on a way to manage and coordinate that network en masse, there are probably some pretty cool things they can start doing.

If this is the case why did Tesla sink the money into Solar City?
I really don't think Tesla will surpass and stay ahead of Amazon for another year or two, but entertaining nonetheleast.
Take note all 70% of you who thought I was nuts.
Well to be far Tesla wools need another 30%+ or an Amzn decline to dethrone them. And for reference if Tesla doubles and all other stayed the same they’d be 3rd ranked fwiw in the US only. One hell of a run but pointing out AMZN in the context of the world is interesting

Like I said it shouldn't happen anytime soon, just interesting that this recent push has gotten them that close.
I expect a pullback to ~ $1000 in the next few months.
