People are just dumb and have no attention to detail. Just don't invest in specific companies if you can't be bothered to study the details.

You will hear whining about gross margins dropping without any context. You know, like the context of having half of your production (the more effiicent factory at that) for half of the quarter while ramping up 2 new factories and incurring costs on those that aren't giving an ROI yet.

I mean, this happened before in spring of 2020, had pressure on margins from Shanghai build and partial shutdown of Fremont factory.

I mean, do you get those things have no effect on long term prognosis?

They built two "cash furnace" factories despite production that has been flat and now declining for three quarters in a row. They are the most inefficient major automaker on the planet. It takes them 99,000 employees to crank out about a million vehicles a year. GM is 4X more efficient with 6.3 million sales in 2021 and 157,000 global employees. Hyundai is 3X more efficient. Toyota, Ford, and Honda are 2X more efficient.

Tesla - 10 cars per employee
VW - 13 cars per employee
Honda - 19 cars per employee
Ford - 21 cars per employee
Toyota - 26 cars per employee
Hyundai - 31 cars per employee
GM - 40 cars per employee

With Tesla's head of AI leaving, and FSD having made almost no progress over the last several months, I'm guessing the take rate is also declining which will hit margins. And the cream on the top is that Elon Musk has now alienated a good chunk of his original customer base with his recent political theater. The growing chorus of "my last Tesla" seems to increase with each ill-advised tweet. Politics and business are two things that should never mix when you are trying to appeal to the widest audience possible.

What is ironic is that their oldest, least efficient plant is still the most productive auto assembly plant in the entire country. Sets quite a standard, and points out the potential for Giga Austin.

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story

"Ford has more than 3,000 dealerships that employ more than 170,000 men and women across the United States."

Now lets see those numbers again

Are the dealership employees employed by Ford or of the dealership? I’d guess the dealership but I’m not sure

dealer employs those workers,it aint easy being a car salesman.
Their base salary is low and they have sell so many cars/per month.
If they are getting a free car and did not meet the quota, they have to pay for their free car .

It ain't easy being a stealership. Doing everything through my phone app and walking up to my car and walking out in 2 minutes is so lame, I would rather get fleeced by a dealership so I can feel good about employing 170,000 people.

How else can the stealerships afford to donate money to politicians?
