Agree! I think that the overwhelming majority of people who are hoping for another stimulus check are probably voting Democrat anyway, so what's to gain for a Republican senator to vote for yet another stimulus? It would just P. O. a lot of the Republican voters (and even some Dems) who would like to see some fiscal backbone restored to our elected officials.

I hope that the Senate votes NO on another $2,000 and that both Republican senators win in Georgia. If that happens, then our country MIGHT survive another couple of years.

It is all a game. Perdue and Loeffler can vote for the $2000 knowing that it isn't going to pass in the Senate. This makes it look like they are supporting Trump and fighting for extra money for the good folks of Georgia. It is easy to vote for something you don't really want if you know what the outcome is going to be.

Everyone's just posturing now, what 'muricans get as a stimulus is of little concern to those in congress or the W.H. But clearly spending billions in general is not a problem because that's just what congress has done over the last 4 years. People who really need some help get hurt in the cross-fire of the posturing when they play fiscal chicken.

They could easily take the money out of the PPP program which is rife with fraud. Checks is checks. Pandemic benefits can be gamed whether it goes to an individual or a business.

hotel chain pockets the money and doesn't pay workers

Money in the program has been diverted for political contributions and by investors for trading.

The current political system lacks the presence of two opposition parties. Dems essentially go along with 95 percent of Pub proposals. So the deficits blow out when there should be more gridlock.

Just saw this:

"McConnell blocks Senate vote on $2,000 COVID-19 payments following House approval"

Thanks Mitch, you are true to form, if nothing else.

He didn't block the vote, only a quick, unanimous consent vote. He's trying to add a few other idiotic things to it before a full vote.

Hmmm, maybe Mitch has learned a thing or two from his Democrat predecessors.

I don't think Mitch learned much. The odds for the elections in Georgia are now almost 50-50. The republican candidates are crashing on the betting websites right now.

Part of the deal is Trump wants another election fraud committee set up.
