OXY is still paying down debt from the Anadarko acquisition. Buffett said he listened to OXY CEO Vicky Hollub’s Q4 2021 earnings call, and that what she said “made sense”. That’s when he started buying OXY big.

Their capital return plan makes total sense to me too.
Ahh, okay. I actually have not read the earnings transcript. It looked like they'd paid down a good deal of their debt already and their D/E ratio is now 0.71, but that's still higher than the 0.48 it was before the Anarko deal. Alright, I'll sit tight on my position. Thanks again, TK!
since this thread was started oxy has had a pretty poor run
a 10k in vestment in oxy in nov 2022 which was when this thread was started fell to 8466
a 10k investment in the s&p is 13,419 , that is a cagr of 25% .
oxy minus 11.74% with all dividends
chevron was 8894 and xom was 9927 .
actually just an investment in oil thru uso did better then all three oil companies at 10,256
so all oil lagged the s&p badly.
i guess i am hoping for a pop from a depressed sector . the contrarian in me says go for the depressed sector not the tech sector
