I'd like to invest but I don't want to use a vault and get a certificate. I want to take delivery.

Any suggestions of where is a good place to buy from?
Thanks

Buy from a coin dealer or a jeweler.

Yea coin dealer is the way to go. Don't buy anything numismatic. Go straight for the most silver/gold closes to spot price.

Here are some types of coins that are good:
Gold American eagle - in any form (1oz,1/10th oz, 1/2 oz etc)
Gold buffalo 24k gold
Silver American Eagle - 1 oz silver
Johnson Matthey silver bars/gold bars
Englehard silver/gold bars
Credit Suisse bars

If you stick to those types you should be off pretty good.

Here is a good site for buying online: Silver, Silver Bar, Silver Bars, Silver Bullion, Gold and More - APMEX.com

The other posters are correct about the coin dealer as your best option. You should seek the recommendation of a knowledgeable local coin collector, if possible, as to which dealers are scrupulously honest. I'm fortunate to have one of those locally despite the small size of our urban area.

Apmex.com and bulliondirect.com are both excellent online retailers. They have outstanding reputations and you have nothing to worry about with these two dealers. I wouldn't buy from anywhere else online!

Send me your money in the mail, and I'll send you gold the very next day!

Yeah, somehow, I think I'd stick with the local coin shop, and exchange cash for the goods otc. Things are very volitile lately. These days alot can happen overnight, while youre sleeping, that might just dissuade someone from sending you what you paid for a day ago.
If you send them say, $1100.00 to buy an ounce of gold on Tuesday, and something happens in the asian markets overnight, that sends the price to $1450.00 at the Wednesday open, would you expect to see your gold, or your cash back the next day? It takes alot of faith, and not in God, to make that leap. At least for me.....
