My husband is a professional trader and trading coach and much of what is said in the previous statements is true. Most people cannot compete with traders who have spent time and years perfecting their craft. Forget broker, forget platform....none of it will make you a successful day trader. One of the comments stating that you need $25,000 to day trade the markets if true only if trading in stocks. Futures and Forex allow for much less capital and no restrictions on how many turns you can make in a day. Most professional traders choose to trade in the e-mini index futures for liquidity and tax reasons. That being said...don't quit your day job until you prove to yourself with real money on the line. Paper trading and the simulators pale in comparison to the emotions and fear/greed component that are a part of the true experience. Contact me privately for more info or for his website.
