Artificial shortage caused by government regulation. This is the reason why anything becomes expensive. Whatever happened to burying someone out on the prarie like in the old western TV shows?

Some states still allow backyard burial, and plenty of space on the prairie for adding organic fertilizer. (You need to bury within a couple days to avoid 'embalming' chemicals). Don't try this in Nebraska, they have a very powerful funeral lobby. I had to hire an undertaker to watch me use a backhoe to plant 'dad'. They wanted $1800 for hauling him from airport to burial, so I got a transit permit and we (dad & I) took a 1700 mile 'roadtrip'. It was very peaceful, we went to all his favorite spots + Tetons, Yellowstone, Devil's Tower, and Mt Rushmore!
