According to the Princeton Review, one of the "smartest" cities in the U.S. is doing this in a drunken haze with U. of Iowa being the top party school in the country.

I can say when it comes to weekends, downtown Iowa City beats any place I've ever been for a party atmosphere and the tailgating is amazing.

Just think how great the partying could be if the football team would get out of it's funk.

And I have. Other schools can have their Big 10 championships and national titles, the Hawkeyes are #1 where it counts. At every men's softball tournament in small town America, the beer drinking trophy is bigger than the championship trophy.

I moved to the Iowa City area about 3 years ago. When I first heard about the U of I being the #1 party school, I laughed. I laughed in the person's face. "IOWA? YOU'RE HIGH."

I guess I always kept away from the downtown and party scene. Good job U of I?

Not really happy about this... to me the only thing worse would be a headline "University of Iowa named highest STD per student etc.." Iowa was a lot of fun (tailgating is amazing) but I was never a party person so maybe that's why I think this is not a ranking to be proud of.

I'll always be proud to be a Hawkeye, but not for reasons involving drinking.

21 and under law is helping. The kids hate it, cops love it. Vote after vote it doesn't get repealed.

I went to school at U of Iowa for 11 years, then worked there for another 13.

Yes it is a party school (but mostly on the east side). But I was surprised by the designation of the #1 party school as well. I spent almost all my time on the west side of the river, where the professional programs are (medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, and the hospitals).

Congratulations Iowa. I think its a good thing. It would have been cooler though if it was a Playboy survey. Wonder what that conservative network Blaze run by Glen Beck is doing taking surveys like that. With Glen Beck calling the shots Im sure there's an agenda. Regardless, congratulations are in order, awards like this that really ticks off the religious right and the values voters.

Dude, that's like finding out your girlfriend made the cover of prostitutes weekly and cheering because it will make some conservative mad.

It's a black-eye for any reputable university.

I know my aunt and uncle whom are big time libs won't be happy to hear this news about thier favorite school in the world.

P.S. Are you an Iowa alumni? Because the logical argument you are essentially making is that conservatives care about education and liberals don't. Of course, that's absolutely untrue, I just don't think you've thought out your rant very well.
