Jihad is a poor interpretation of the Authority and Might of the Lord Of Host and His ability to take care of His offenses ...... Were people have to go a fight for God , or appease the God with killing children for God ...... Amen!! If only people realized how IMPOTENT they make their God look by trying to enforce His laws! ANY God that requires human beings to enforce His laws is NOT a God. He is a human invention for power and control, period.
The idea of Jihad (like many religious and social entities) covers a lot of ground. Really, any kind of effort for good can be called Jihad. Any kind of resistance against evil can be called Jihad.
That gives a nice loophole to those who consider that 9/11 was justified because the perpetrators were not guilty of anything (see the article).
Why was that? Because America was wall to wall deserving of that? Because of supporting Israel? Because of their perceived lack of sympathy for Islam? No. Because in pushing Saddam out of Kuwait, they had dared to set infidel boots on Holy Saudi soil.
Any religion that bases 'Jihad' on any such view cannot be justified to me, no matter how much it is argued- and that seems to apply to quite a few other muslims since the Al- Quaida Jihad - motives seem to have been quietly forgotten in preference to a general Middle east struggle based around Israel.
It is similar to the switching of the motive for Iraq to regime change from WMD when the supposed evidence for them was not forthcoming. I don't agree with that and believe that Bush and Blair should be tried for and illegal war.
Similarly, Muslims should be denouncing Al Quaida, but I suppose the Palestine link now precludes that. However it is perpetuated, I at least am not going to be bamboozled by any posts trying to make out that Jihad in fact is all nice and peaceful.
I see a lot of nonsense who said you that 9/11 jihad ? and who said you that it was by Muslims ?

Islam defines innocent differently from the civilized world. Only Muslims and those "People of the book" who submit are considered innocent. Infidels are NOT.

The concept is not misunderstood as long as Muslims believe they are under Dar al harb . . . and as long as Israel exists they believe that . . . jihad means Holy War . . . not the personal jihad within each Muslim.
