So why hasn't my grandma sprouted out of the cemetery with the dandilions yet?
Your grandma is alive: she has become a spirit or soul, and you - sooner or later - will follow her and become a spiritual soul in the afterlife: the world of sprits.
It is like a bird that left its cage and became free, and will not return once again to its cage;
or like the chicken that broke the egg-shell and came out of its egg, and will not return once again to its egg to be imprisoned in its shell; because the purpose from creating the egg is the chicken, and when it is fully created and became a living chicken, it is not going to return again to its egg.
So the purpose is to create the spirit or the soul, which is the true man that hears, sees and perceives the pleasure and pain; and the soul will live in the world of souls forever; then there will be no need to return the soul to the body which has decayed and rotten after death.
The material body will not be recreated once again; the spiritual soul is the true immortal man.
The soul is identical with the body in shape; i.e. the soul is a true ethereal copy of the material body. The body will die and the soul will live forever.
A man asked the Prophet about the Hour (i.e. Day of Judgment) saying, "When will the Hour be?" The Prophet said, "What have you prepared for it?" The man said, "Nothing, except that I love Allah and His Apostle." The Prophet said, "You will be with those whom you love."
We had never been so glad as we were on hearing that saying of the Prophet (i.e., "You will be with those whom you love.") Therefore, I love the Prophet, Abu Bakr and 'Umar, and I hope that I will be with them because of my love for them though my deeds are not similar to theirs. (Book #57, Hadith #37)
