It's safe to say that it's the most prudent thing to let the women decide for themselves. I find it disgusting that men have to formulate rules on what they wear and expose
While people can go too far in baring themselves, I have no use for any form of Sharia law.
Islam is not a religion, it is a disease. Sharia law is responsible for allowing girls to be raped, then killed for being raped (?!), beaten for any offense their fathers/brothers/husbands can think of, etc.
I really don't care what Muslims do or don't wear, honestly. There are many folks out there I wish would wear far LESS clothing and there are many people out there I wish would wear far MORE clothing. None of my business whether they do or do not, however.
We need to respect various customs as we Americans haven't a clue how to deal with cultures unless we travel /study and begin to grasp traditional garb and religous restrictions. I believe that
the Islam has gone too far and exrtreme in insisting clothing be so restrictive whereas I also believe
the West has allowed cothing that is inappropriate (too much body exposure). I believe Islamic men
contol women as if they are slaves for their own gain. Many of the millions of Islamic women a twice
as intelligent as some of these jackasses. This pagan based religion (well intended,traditional,his-
toric and beloved) is an easy target for all kinds of foolishness. When your raised in just about any-
thing you adopt those teaching thats why all religions have the smell of manmade doctrines and beliefs that are not pleasing to God and His only mediator Jesus Christ .
In the first sentence you write that we need to respect various customs, as we American's don't have a clue, and then the rest of the paragraph you go on about disrespecting those various customs. Am I reading that wrong?
Actually I doubt if the women in Aceh will allow this law to last very long. Muslim women can be very demanding about getting what they want.
People often question the freedom of women in Islam. Perhaps the best ones to ask would be adult unmarried Muslim woman living it Western Countries.
Now some simple facts about a woman's rights. I'll just speak of my wife. She has a very adequate income from her own sources. I am not permitted to touch one penny of it under Islamic law. I am responsible for all bills and for paying for anything she chooses to buy.
I can neither force her to go to the Mosque nor can I stop her if she desires to go.
I can not force her to wear the hijab and again I can not stop her if she wishes to.
If for some reason we were to divorce for any reason other than if she commits adultery, she gets the house and furnishings, I have to provide for her until she remarries, I have to pay her the dower we agreed upon when we married, for each year we were married.
There are many other things but perhaps that is enough to show it is not a one direction relationship.
Now before everybody gets all upset and says that is not what they see. I agree some people inthis world do not obey the Qur'an in fact in some countries it is forbidden to allow a woman to read the Qur'an out of fear they will learn of their rights in Islam.
Isn't it strange how many raids on Islamic terrorist locations including Bin Laden's compound commonly include a big stash of pornography? Somehow I don't think the women in those porn photos or videos are dressed up in those beekeeper getups.
