In Hinds County, Northeast Jackson is mostly fine and Clinton and Byram are nice. Downtown is starting to grow also and generally is considered a safe area. To make it simple though, a good place to start would be Flowood. Good central location, nice and new, very safe, clean, and growing, and plenty of young people.

South Jackson is pretty bad these days, but it isn't the worst of the worst, that title belongs to west Jackson. But anyway, like brickpatio said, Northeast Jackson is fine, as well as Fondren, which also tons of young people living there!

Even though people are also coming in. You know, the old age argument about people leaving Jackson & crime wouldn't get started if people like you Madison2013 would stick to the topic of the thread. The guy just simply asked where in Hinds County or Jackson proper is a nice place to live. You should, regardless of your opinion of the city of Jackson, either oblige and tell him the nice areas of town, or just keep scrolling and don't bother to respond to the thread.
