Voter participation in municipal elections is ridiculously low. That’s why the same old gang gets re-elected numerous times.

For example, I clicked a link you just shared about the Landmark Building being purchased. The very first comment shown was about section 8 housing.

In other words, if Kingfish did do some type of exposé, does he have a history of framing facts in a way to be unnecessarily negative and vitriolic toward Jackson, or can he be more neutral with the facts than his commentators are? I don't necessarily need neutrality, but I stay away from unneeded nastiness.
Jackson Jambalaya is neither good or bad, it is simply a source of information. It should be used in concert with other information sources and a questioning mind.

When I was growing up the adults always said, "never believe anything you read or hear and only half of what you see." Benjamin Franklin is credited with originating that statement, even 250 years ago people knew to be skeptical.

50 years ago, newspapers prided themselves as "investigative journalists." Now they're either parrots of whatever political party they believe in or gutted and on life support. The Clarion Ledger is a shell of itself and hardly does any deep dives on local issues. Kingfish will do some digging and you can sometimes gleem some good intel from the comments, but most are pure idiocy.

I just dismiss those people. Believe me there aren't many white people (or likely many black people either) who would take Jackson's problems. There is no grand conspiracy to take over Jackson.

My college probability classes, and what I know about "representative samples," says that a large turnout would likely result in the same outcomes.

Their haven't been any good people running for mayor. Except maybe Johnathon Lee many years back. It's not like high quality people are losing elections in Jackson, instead it's trying to judge the better of two bad options.

From afar, George Flaggs in Vicksburg seems to be doing a good job. I like what they've done with the downtown entertainment section (Washington Street area). He seems to be a uniniter, while Jxn seems to have too many dividers in leadership positions.

Agreed. Flaggs is a good mayor.

There's supposed to be a meeting next week re: the proposed development inside the old McRae's. I'm going to try and attend the meeting and see what the details are.

WLBT did a story on the proposed new development. If all goes according to plan, construction may start as soon as September.

Thank you for sharing the news story. Did you attend Golden Eagles Fan? I wish we could have seen a rendering of the actual building and not just the site plan. Is the dog park across the street? I'm having some trouble seeing the words.

I hope everything goes well. There are more lofts planned there than I was actually thinking would be. With this and the proposed State Street townhomes, NoFo could become the next hot area of town.
