Depends where in OP. If your are out Blanding Blvd(SR 21) near Knight Boxx Rd it would probably be an hour. I wouldn recommend it unless you really like driving, Traffic isnt too bad. But why not live closer to GNV. If you are set on living in Clay County... Keystone Heights or Kingsley Lake( Starke mailing address) would be much closer to GNV. If it is for a limited time not too bad. I commuted everyday from Jacksonville to Port Orange( Daytona Beach) for 3.5 years. I knew it was a limited time. But it sucks driving home after a full day of classes sometimes... Luckily I like to drive. I enjoyed finding different routes, not always a short cut but change

My brother and his wife live in DC and she has a job offer in Gainsville and my brother could easily transfer to Jacksonville so they puchased a house in Middleburg-- we have family connections in Middleburg. But they looked in Keystone Heights and Starke. Middleburg splits the difference from Jax/GNV

Thanks for the suggestions.. we would consider living closer to Gainesville but we are looking for a racially diverse middle to upple middle class area.
I think Orange Park and Fleming Island would suit us the best?? My husband will be working in the Jax area...

I live in Middleburg, and one of my neighbors commutes to Gainesville. It takes him about 1.25 hours to get there.

Also, did he say how the drive is? Is he totally burned out from it?

Thanks!

We live in Oakleaf and have a neighbor who currently commutes to Gainesville daily......I think he said it takes him about 1+ hour to get there. They just bought next to us and he teaches down there somewhere and said he's looking to teach up closer to home. He doesn't MIND the drive, but said he thinks it will get old after awhile.

Middleburg may be an hour from Gainesville, but it takes my neighbor about an extra 15 minutes or so. Not sure if he drives slow, gets caught in Gainesville traffic, what part of Gainesville he works in, etc. He says "You get used to the drive after a while", so I'll have to take his word for it.

Not sure about diversity in Middleburg. I live here, but I don't pay attention to skin color or trivial stuff like that. Not knocking you, I'm just saying that it's not my cup of tea.

Good luck, one way or the other!

I think a lot of it would depend on what you are accustomed to. 1.25 hours is pretty much the norm in the D.C. area. It sucks, but everyone is used to it.
