Agreed - especially for a lawyer (don't know about school teachers).

And note to OP - the Florida Bar doesn't offer reciprocity in terms of bar admissions. It will probably take you close to a year to become a member of the Bar (assuming you pass the exam on the first try). If you've been admitted to practice for more than 5 years and less than 10 years - the fee is $2000. But you don't have to be a resident of the state to take the exam.

Both my husband and I make less money than we did in Denver.
It's been kind of a trade off. We certainly don't miss the traffic, and the winter/spring/fall snowstorms.

And we love the water, the pace of life, the natural beauty.

When we first moved here, my husband was commuting to Jax, and the truth is, he did not care for it. But other friends of ours do the commute; it is worth it to them to live here.

Your comment about a $600,000 house being a 'starter home' blew my mind.
Hi cil...old CD member girl here...Im looking at st. augustine or myb fernandina/amelia island. ....

I loved Amelia Island...I am selling house where I am now...is it feasible? jobwise Id be looking at paralegal or something in J'ville but id be ok for a bit...just trying to find new home for me and the shar-peis....I do love this forum as u guys have known me so long...the sep., TN and its boredom...lol...

Ultimately its quality of life, not money. In 6 yrs Ive lived in a state with nothing but polluted lakes....need the beach...thanks for any advice I no longer need a mcmansion, just quiet neighborhood near the water

realtors welcome to DM me...i spoke to peterthebrit...I dont need a new condo-older house is ok....(esp w. dogs)

Now is a good time to buy real estate here, that's for sure.

People have been buying and even building in our neighborhood.

As I said before, my husband did not like commuting to Jax, but other people do it.

Good luck with your search!
