Looking to do some landscape revision in my backyard. Need new mulch, stone trim around pool hardscape. Replace plants that have died. Need buried down spout to help with some water run off. I got a bid from one guy and he wanted $10,000! My neighborhood seems prone to automatic outrageous market up effect based solely on location. Any recs would be hugely appreciated. OK to PM or post publicly. I am near Mayo Clinic. Thanks!

OK! And you want what in the way of recommendations? We can't give you a competing bid because we don't know what exactly you want done. Without seeing the property its kind of hard to make realistic recommendations. But one recommendation I do feel comfortable making is get more than one bid perhaps 4 or 5 even. Because with a $10K first bid on the table theres some money to be saved or wasted somewhere. However if you are looking for someone on here to just do the work, good luck.

My mother-in-law has a landscape design business in the Jacksonville area (Landscapes By Janice). Her website is landscapesbyjanice Home page. You can call her at 904-710-1796 if you'd like to arrange getting an estimate.

That's just a stones throw from Jacksonville.
Using colored stone would be best in most landscaping projects. You can make designs, then use different colored rocks. As for mulch, I'd only use that in places to help retain moisture around plants.
