I recently moved to Jacksonville and so far I like it a lot. It does take time to figure out the best places to shop so I hope to get some help here. I live near Beach and Hodges Blvds. Are there any decent places where I can buy fresh tasting seafood to cook at home. I know I can take my chances at Publix but how about the small shops in the area? Anything close to the 32224 zip code?

If you don't mind taking a ride I would suggest Mayport. That's where I do my seafood shopping all along the coast. Can't get any fresher. Snapper in some of the shops are still pulsating.

I second cricketfans suggestion as Mayport is as fresh as its going to get unless you go offshore like we(my son and I) do and catch it yourself.

Seems like a place I can go at least once a week. Any favorite shops around there?

Safe Harbor Seafood is a good fresh seafood market.
They are located on Mayport Rd next to the Coast Guard Station.
