There are a lot of questions about 210, traffic-wise and otherwise, so I thought I'd share this article.

While I see the need for infrastructure due to the projected population increase, I'm glad there is some resistance to developing any part of Guana State Park - I hope the state stands firm on not allowing developers to impact the protected land.

I agree with you. Guana State Park should be protected. For the out of state people inquiring about 210 traffic, this article is referring to the section of 210 east of US 1. This is the area of Nocatee out to Ponte Vedra.

Yeah, it just makes me wonder - what are these developers thinking???

Guana was there long before they decided to design Nocatee, why didn't they design around it? Why did they plow forward and just ASSUME they were going to get the state's okay to pave over conservation land? And what was the county thinking when they allowed the permit for Nocatee? They knew Guana was there as well .

Oh, that's right......dollars !

Actually it's only about the rather short part of 210 between Palm Valley Bridge and the new roundabout at Mickler Rd.

There have been several articles about this issue already. They said that a 4-lane bridge doesn't make a lot of sense when it ends in a 2-lane road. But in my opinion, widening that part of 210 also doesn't make sense because Palm Valley Road and Micklers Road after the roundabout are also 2-lanes.

Yeah, what was the county thinking when they allowed the permit for Nocatee? Good question. Where did they think all the traffic would go? Nocatee is so large - not everybody turns west to US-1 or I-95. I think a lot of them will take 210 and A1A which has already more than enough traffic problems.

You're right, I hadn't even thought about the stress on A1A. St. John's county already let a developer move A1A once before. There's a section of it when suddenly you're driving AWAY from the ocean.......they re-rerouted A1A for an expensive condo development some years back so the condos could have oceanfront views (more dollars anyone? ). It' such a nice drive.......you're looking at the ocean, smelling the salt air and then you're not - you're looking at a monster sized condo - then you're back again looking at the ocean.......it's crazy - it totally ruins the experience .
