Okay I have to comment. I live in NJ and will be moving to Jacksonville next summer. I saw this thread and thought to myself, "Oh great, an article with must see places". I figured this would be a good start for when we move down here and want some fun places to explore. So I clicked on the link in the first post to read the article. Disappointing. Of the 10 things listed, maybe 2 or 3 sounded pretty good. I can't help thinking "is this all that Jacksonville has to offer?" There must be more.

Don't let the article fool you....there are plenty of things to do in and around Jacksonville as you have seen many of the comments in this topic. Once you settle in and get your bearing you will that if your willing to explore the area there is more than enough to do.

Thanks to the Internet things are a little easier to find out about...whether it is biking, hiking, kayaking, camping, football, baseball the zoo, great restaurants you will find it in Jacksonville. Just realize your not coming to an area like Boston, Chicago, San Diego and other cities where spending a whole day downtown will take up your whole day with interesting things to do.......Jacksonville has those things....they are just spread out.

Good luck and welcome to the area

Thanks guys. Yes, I'm certainly willing to and eager to explore the area. We're so used to being close to NYC and Philly and I realize Jacksonville isn't going to be New York, but I'm optimistic it will have it's own charm and excitement for us. I actually can't wait to get down there and explore.

It was a stupid list. The zoo wasn't even on it (and we have an excellent zoo). Robyn

Not per se. Only Butterfly Hollow (which isn't much of an exhibit IMO). Robyn
