I've lived in Palm Coast for the past 2 years. Jobs in Palm Coast are not plentiful yet, I've had 2 different positions since living here and both required a 40+ minute commute. You may have to look elsewhere for work.

If by dump truck you mean construction? The construction & real estate market in Palm Coast is at a standstill. There are carpenters, realtors, & home builders that are pulling their hair out trying to figure out when the market is going to turn in their favor again. Many predict that will be mid-2008, but there are no guarantees. Please make sure that you find good leads for work before moving, I'd hate to see you face any difficulty.

As for house cleaning, there are several hotels in Palm Coast & Flagler Beach.

Ginn Hammock Beach Resort (very chic!)
Holiday Inn
Microtel
Sleep Inn
Hampton Inn
Country Hearth Inn
Topaz
Etc..

As for private companies, I couldn't say.

This website may help you -

MyTopiaCafe - JobFinder

It's the Daytona News-Journal job postings, but it includes employment in Palm Coast, also.

Best of luck to you!

There are several resources you can use to search for jobs. Not much for dump trucks but if you are CDL try www.usfoodservice.com they are a company located about 15min from palm coast on US 1 since they are a food company its more stable than depending on a construction job at this time. websites to search for jobs and rentals/apartments locally are Florida Pennysavers and Daytona Beach News-Journal Online
for jobs you can also register and search www.employflorida.com and you can also search Job Search | one search. all jobs. Indeed which is my personal favorite for job searching. There is also www.regionalhelpwanted.com
Like the previous poster said jobs are limited in Palm coast, well you may also try nearby towns/cities which include St. Augustine-25mins, Ormond Beach-15min, Daytona Beach -20mins and a lil further there is Deland-35mins

Been reading information on Palm Coast. We are considering retiring there and would like some information on the salt water canal homes in section C. We are boaters and would like to know if you buy a home there -- do you actually own the property in the canal? I heard the city does maintenance dredging??? We took a trip down last week-end and liked area very much. Any information on salt water canal living would be very helpful.

Thanks

I would suggest, to you Stephens, or anyone else interested in Palm Coast info, to:

1) search past threads re: Palm Coast - there are a lot of them - especially on the main Florida forum page

2) post your Q on the main Florida forum page. I say this because while you may get some feedback here regarding PC, you will get a lot more feedback from the main Florida forum page. The reason being, PC is quite far, in miles and otherwise, from Jacksonville. The two cities are not really "connected" in any way, though they may look close enough on a map, they're really not that close at all.

Palm Coast is a good place to retire. Lots of northerners (ny) moved/ are moving there. Not many places to eat, not much to do at all socially. It does have a nice atmosphere

Overall, depending on where you are, its a pretty pleasant place. Cannot even be compared to Jax, Tampa, or even St. Augustine tho.

My parents moved there after I left for college (from VA). Freshman year (summer) I spent in my new hometown of PC. Had nothing to do! I then stayed in St. Aug, more recently Jax. My parents consistently drive to either Daytona or JAx for shopping or restaurants, even to go to the movies! Almst every weeknd they have to drive up here just to "get out". I duno, not to be naysayer but I wouldnt raise kids there....
....woops I just realized this is a really old thread, so this post doesnt pertain to the OP anymore
