hi folks!

for the last couple of months, we have parked over in davis shores and walked across the bridge of lions whenever we wanted to go downtown in st augustine. it's a great stroll, so no problem.

however, next week my wheelchair/walker-using mom is coming for a visit, and that would be a LOOOOOOOng push. but we sure don't want to pay those crazy fees in the parking garage (we've heard it's $10 a day--yikes!) or the on-street meters either.

we've heard mention of some kind of pass or permit that st john's county residents can buy, which then reduces the garage rate to a buck at a time--and maybe even reduces the cost of the on-street metered parking. we've looked around the county websites for information, and all we can find is something that reduces the rate (the ParkNow card?).....but gives no special rate just for residents.

has anyone got any clarifications on this for me? thanks!!!

bob and steve

The ParkNow card is the only thing I have ever used. The reduced rates are very low.
If there is something else, no one I know has it, so i am curious to see what you find out.

Default Parking

When my mother was here last winter we were told at the marina office that sells tickets for the boat cruises to just hang her handicapped parking card in the window and parking would be free downtown. We used it all winter while she was here. You might want to call the sheriffs office to verify but we never got a ticket .

Here is a link to the City of St. Augustine website parking section. There's much specific useful info there. I see no mention of free handicapped parking downtown and have not heard of such in the 15 years I have lived here. The Park Now Card is a great bargain..

Metered parking on the street and public surface lots is $1.50 / hour or 50 cents per hour with Park Now Card. Parking per entry to parking garage is $10 or $1 with Park Now Card.

Thanks! Those are big savings! We usually avoid the deck because I'm too cheap to pay $10 to park, but for $1, it would make life a lot easier when we go down to St Aug. Glad I read this...thanks again for the info!
