My 21 year old sister is possibly moving down to FL and is considering St. Augustine. I'm not familiar with the area and don't want to set her up in an unsafe part of town. Any recommendations would be great (where to and not to look).

Rent or to buy ?
I recommend Las Palmas or Vista Cove to rent or buy as they are both gated and near to town and you get to meet similar aged people in the communities
otherwise over to Anastatsia Island

It would be helpful to know how much she is able to pay for rent and what size apt / condo / house she needs and if she has pets for me to give you good recommendations.

Additionally, are you wanting walkability, the beach, shopping ? Know what you look for in a place would help.

Thank you! Her budget is around $800-$900 a month and she's hoping to attend some classes at Flagler. Walk ability isn't a necessity and no pets.

Let me ask this question ~ What part of St. Augustine should she avoid?

St. Augustine is a small town. There aren't any areas that I consider to be high crime areas. However, I have lived most of my life in large urban cities. Everyone's comfort level is different depending on what their prior experiences have been. What kind of area does she live in now? small town /urban /suburban/ middle class/ upper class? Would she feel comfortable living in a lower income area? Does she live a quiet life? Like to party? looking for a complex with amenities like swimming pool or would she be happy in an older house divided into apts. with no amenities? Since your sister will be living alone and will not know anyone here, I would suggest looking for something along State Rd. 16 near the outlet malls or on the north side of downtown St. Augustine near Flagler College. The 2 complexes Peter the Brit suggests would be fine except I think they will be at the top of or out of your price range. Villa San Marco condos near U.S. 1 and FL 312 (near Flagler Hospital) are also nice but again...will be at the top of her price range. The rentals in her price range at the beach will be fine if she doesn't mind a less quiet environment. If you find some possibilities and want to post the locations, those of us living in St. Augustine can give you a thumbs up or down. Where will she be working?
