I am looking for some input on home alarm systems.

Of course, the big name websites don't give much information for pricing, area coverage, etc... So I'm hoping some of you have some good personal experience.

We are looking for a pretty high tech system that is affordable. We need sensors on all the windows/doors, as well as the other sensors (fire, flood, CO2, etc.)

I would also love cameras on the whole perimeter of our house and a mobile app or control from off property would be great.

Does anyone have any experience in the area? From internet searches Front Point seems to have the best reviews.

Thanks!

I'm surprised there have been no responses... Especially with all the talk about crime and safety on this board...

Does anyone have an alarm system for their home?

We have SafeTouch.

They are a popular local-ish company.

Yeah, Safetouch is the biggest [local] name around here. I see the owner/president, Lester Jackson, from time to time around my area of town. Their commercials seem to indicate they can offer what you're looking for. Although, I would venture to say that the home security industry, as a whole, probably keeps up with new technology in that regard. You'll be somewhat limited by your wiring infrastructure, unless you go wireless with batteries, especially on your cameras. When we built our house in 2010, my builder let me run my own camera wiring, so I have a full perimeter of coverage. The auto-turrets are nice, too.

90% of the yard signs I see are either Safe Touch or ADT. We recently had our system upgraded and switched to monitored after a break-in. After free home consultations with ADT and Safe Touch, we went with Safe Touch. Their website is better and they seem to have a better system. Supposedly, they have the only system that defeats "crash & smash", which is someone kicking your door in and ripping the brain box off the wall before the delay is over. Also, DeAngelo, the Safe Touch rep. was much more knowledgeable and professional than the ADT guy. If you're not sure, have them come out and talk to you and decide for yourself.

Also, Safe Touch has 2-way voice communication. This is better than the company calling you on the phone when there is an alert.

We had Safe Touch and so wish that we still had them! Their response time is amazing! I would leave my house and "think" that I had my door closed all the way, but it Mommy craziness, apparently not. My cell phone would be ringing less than a mile away from my house telling me my alarm was going off - and they call you after they have tried to contact you in your house directly. A few times, they had to dispatch the police (because an unlocked door had blown open during a storm) and the police would be waiting for me at my house by the time I got home. I love, love, love Safetouch.

We are currently with Dynamark Security and I can't WAIT for our contract to expire. We are a new build house and it was who the builder was contracted with. We signed with them just because it was easy at the time and I regret it every day. The few times our alarm has gone off, it has take over 5 minutes for them to contact us - and several times they have not contacted us at all. They apparently assume that if you turn off the alarm within a given amount of time that all is ok on your end. Safetouch contacts you EVERY time your alarm goes off! Again, can't wait until we can switch back!
