Hello everyone

I am coming to Jacksonville with my wife next month. Please advise me accordingly. My office is near to Jacksonville landing place.

Need your help in coming up with living expenses in Jacksonville..
Can you please advise me with an estimate who will be get deputed to Jacksonville.

I have come up with a conservative list of expenses here. Please chip in with your contributions if you think of something more...

Rent ( 1 bedroom ) -> $600-$800 (Will I get a good nearby apartment to my office in this range. Any recommendations on places to live?)
Living expenses (listed below)
Car ( Fixed asset) ----------> $500
Fuel for car ------------------- > ??
Insurance-----------------------> ??
Groceries for a month -----> ??
Others -> ??

Am I missing any important information. Kindly let me know!

Someone else may have better info, but I don't believe you can find a nice apartment in downtown in your price range. You might try looking in Riverside or San Marco, and even then, I don't know what's available for up to $800.

As for your other expenses, it's hard to put a dollar amount on them. Gas for your car would all depend on the length of your commute or if you lived near a bus line and took that mode of transport. Grocery costs could be higher or lower than your current outlay - all depends on where you're coming from and the cost-of-living there vs. in Jax.

The only apartments in you price range in Downtown will be City Place: City Place Jacksonville - Jacksonville, FL - CityPlaceJacksonville.com

Most are efficiencies, but some are 1 bedrooms.

If you live & work in Dowtown, your fuel expense would be minimal. Maybe $150/month. You could even ride a bicycle to work, which would be very easy. Pretty much everything you would need/want is within a 4 mile radius of Downtown Jax, so you wouldn't have to do much driving.

Insurance? Depends on the car and the level of coverage. Anywhere from $500 a year to $1000+

Groceries, again just depends on how thrifty you are and what you like to eat. You could get away with $300/mo.

If you wish to live close to your work, you should look for housing in the neighborhoods known as Riverside, Avondale, San Marco, Historic Springfield, or Murray Hill. If you don't mind a commute from 30 minutes to an hour, the possible neighborhoods are numerous. Let us know which you would prefer. Commute or no Commute.
