Funny. There are areas reserved for surfing but not for fishing. Probably because it's dangerous to mix the two, huh.

I'm going there today to swim, fish and drive my speedboat through that very surf zone because it's "my state" and I can do what I want!

Yeah, I guess. I go out to the beach in Neptune about every day. It is a very small area, about a mile and a half of beachfront if that?

I have never seen any areas physically marked off- I am not sure how you would do this- but if you are going to have a 'zone' shouldn't there be an indication of one? Maybe it is between two of the 5 or so lifeguard stations?

Maybe I'll make a call.

Do the lifeguards put up flags for the swimming area? If so then that is probably the "NO-Surf Zone" and "NO-Fishing Zone".

I totally agree with FL-14, and feel that anyone with a lick of common sense who is throwing fish hooks through the air would have, upon arrival, set up far from beach-goers who were there first. What's wrong with people?

What about if the fishermen got there first? Is it first come - first served in unmarked areas in your opinion? When it comes to swimmers - fishermen - boarders - whatever in your opinion? Robyn

Call the people in Neptune Beach if you find the time. Would be interesting what you find out.

What do you do on the beach? Only time I wind up there is after big storms to do some shelling (generally not very good here - even after storms). People who like to collect shark's teeth here are usually happier campers than I am as a sheller. Robyn

I will call tomorrow if I remember or ask one of the lifeguards this weekend.

Depending on the weather, I take my daughter there on weekend mornings and on weekday afternoons after my jog. Ever since she started walking she likes her feet in the sand and water!

In the 'winter' I jog on the beach if it's not too windy. If it is we jog- her in the Bob stroller- on 1st Street then go out on one of the nice handicap entrances and spend some time on the benches. She likes looking at the ships, waves, etc.

We also host many many Midwestern guests who come for the beach and sun.... I mean to visit and spend time with us.....

Obviously, if someone is fishing and has their line(s) in the water jumping into or near their line would be just as bad as what I described with the reverse. I see you are desperately trying to make this into an anti fishing thread but no one is "taking the bait" (pun intended).
Think of it more as a fishing and swimming don't mix thread. Does that make it easier for you?

How did that last bit of condescension feel? Stings a little, eh?
