My wife and I currently live in kansas city, and we can't stand it. We want to a change in our lives, and for a number of other reasons we want to move to florida. I was looking at Jacksonville, and we were looking for more info. We are both mid 30's so we are going to need jobs. I work in the computer IT field. We have a special needs daughter so we are going to need a really great childrens hospital. The kc childrens hospital is terrible. Also good neighborhoods that are good for younger families. Thanks for any info you can give me.

You have identical needs and the same makeup as many other families looking to move here. There are countless threads on the neighborhood choices here. What is your budget for a home?

Hey bud, based on your thread you have clear and set goals on what you want to do and where you want to go. The thing about Jacksonville and working IT is that its a shot in the dark. Jobs in jacksonville are very unpredictable, they are all taken at times, and other times certain places will call you into work the day you ask for a job.

You can look foward to either working for a big cooperation, or a small, very volatile business. Your best bet would be to get your own thing going, if you have the means.

It's a decent place to live, but dont expect jobs to jump out at you. Lots of educated folks here filling up positions as they come and the personality is going to be far more hostile here than in Kansas

Hope that helped!

We have Wolfson Children's Hospital (which is supposed to be excellent - I have no personal experience with it):
