My family is relocating to the Jacksonville area next month. I wasn't given much notice from work therefore we will be looking to rent a house until we can purchase. We are looking for recommendations for web sites for rental properties. Our search is focused in St Johns county. Thanks in advance

Your best bet is to work with a realtor. They have access to most of the rental listings. The other suggestions are good but not a single search.

Zilow, etc get their information from the MLS (Multi Listing Service), however they are not always accurate and will show rentals that have already been rented.

That being said, not all property management firms subscribe to the MLS but most do.

It may be different in Flagler, but many renters I meet tell me they have a really hard time finding a sales associate to work with them to find a rental property. I probably know why, but I'll save that for another audience. Also, in my research, I have found that most rental listings are handled in-house (i.e. the listing broker also found the renter), if the MLS data is to be trusted. So, perhaps that's a product of sales associates not helping renters, or it's possible that our MLS isn't the best resource for renting properties.

Eric

I moved to Jax and have worked with renters for over two years. Yes there is a lot that could be said on the matter of realtors helping renters but I still think it is the most comprehensive source.

Most rentals are NOT handled in house, they just won't put the agent the rented the property on as the selling agent.

If so, then the true selling agents need to police that, so MLS has correct info. I'm sure the Board and its members want accurate reporting.

Sorry for the off-topic posts, OP.
