My family of 4 are planning on moving to Jacksonville January 1st, 2014. I am working with Exit Realtors to help us find a condo/apartment to rent preferably in Clay County if not then Duval County. I am looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom to rent, hopefully not too much over $800.00. We also have a 15 yo & 5 yo, so school is very important since they both have some learning disabilities. Does anyone know of any other real estate companies that deal with rentals? Also I work for my county's 911 center so I put in application already for that position and my husband does Asbestos/Abatement/Demolition and mold? Is there a job market for that down in Jacksonville? I tried looking on google and other employment sites but nothing could we find for Asbestos. Any neighborhoods or sides of town we should avoid? We liked Orange Park, my husband has relatives there. Other than that we are Jacksonville virgins. Any advice and
opinions would be so grateful Thanks.

I'm confused...why are you coming to the area if you don't even have jobs here? What is the reason for moving?

My father passed away and I need to be closer to my stepmother, she has no one down there to help her. My father left me a bit of money so I have that and as I said I am still waiting to take that exam. Don't worry I'm not getting on anyone's section 8 or welfare. I don't do it here and I am def not doing it there. My husband and both work and always have, we only depend ourselves. Maybe I should take the employment part out if its the reason why people wouldn't want to give any advise.

Avoid the north west quadrant of Jacksonville and also the 103rd Street/I-295 area of west Jax.
Most areas of Jacksonville and Orange Park are just fine, but there are some small specific bad
neighborhoods you should steer clear of. Find out where the realty company suggest you move
to and come back here and let us know and we can give you better advice.

Yes! And they are using a Delorean as their moving vehicle.

A 2-3 bedroom rental at 800 a month is going to put you JUST outside of the less than desirable areas of Jax. What kind of lifestyle do you enjoy? Fishing, being near the water, country life, urban?

I have no lifestyle honestly, I work, come home, tend to husband and kids, crochet and repeat it all over again. Im looking over into Orange Park near Mall area. She (the realtor) sent me a post for Whispering Pines neighborhood? I never had to think of what I would liked to do because its too cold outside this time of the year and gets dark too early. Today the high was 54 degrees!! I almost had to turn the heat on!! Im beyond ready to go. I wouldnt mind urban living..I cant swim and I dont know about country lol

Well the area around that mall is highly congested. Its definitely your classic suburb. I grew up there and my only complaint about Orange Park would be its "closed off" feel because theres so much traffic that it takes 30 minutes just to get to Jax and an over an hour to get to the ocean.
