Are there many seniors living in the St. Augustine, Jacksonville area? We plan on purchasing a house with about 1500 square feet in a safe area. It does not have to be near the beach and are interested in homes from 150 to 200k. Any advise would be greatly appreciated as well as sources where we can do research about the area. Thanks loads for your input.

We are Seniors, going into our early 70's, and having been living on the Southside of Jacksonville since 2009. Even though we do have a few Seniors living in our apartment complex, as a whole, that we've seen, not many Seniors live in Jacksonville. In fact, Jacksonville has become pretty fast-paced since we've moved here. If you are a Senior, and drive somewhat slow, people here don't drive slow at all.

Actually, we are in the planning stage of leaving Jacksonville and Florida and going back up north to possibly Colorado. We need a much slower pace than what's in Jacksonville and Florida.

There are seniors interspersed throughout our community, and also several of the communities we looked at before buying last year. St. Augustine IS NOT JACKSONVILLE. Please ignore LoveBoating. St. Augustine is a wonderful community and there is something for everyone here.

I made it clear to our Realtor what we wanted... and she delivered. You might like South St. Augustine - I definitely notice a heavier population of 65+ folks in that area. There are some 55+ Active Adult communities around, but I think the home prices and the fees are insane.

I can give you our Realtor's name if you want it. She was tireless and amazing - and she listened to what we wanted. That's worth a lot.

If you have not been here to look, you need to come and evaluate for yourself and not rely on what you see online. Seeing a place in person is worth more than money can buy.

I was ONLY talking about Jacksonville!

I totally agree with Turbogyrl about going to see the area. Way to many people rely on these forums for information, which can be, but not always, good information. Seeing the area is definitely worth the money that is spent to do it. That is what we are going to do......visit the area we are interested in moving to.
