Surprised there was no thread on this. I have only read a little bit about this, but I think it is a bad idea. Basically (as I understand it) the City, which owns JEA would sell it to a private company in a move which would net billions of dollars. I've heard estimates of 2-10 billion.

I understand it would reduce income to the city by about 60 million per year. (Profits now versus tax receipts later). I also hear they might keep the water portion and sell just the electric.

I'm afraid the one time cash bonus would be like allowance money in a kids pocket. They couldn't wait to spend it on all kinds of frivolous projects.

I guess I'd like to hear "Sale would generate X billions, and here's how we would spend that X billions" before I would be ok with it.

I'd also like some guarantees about employees. I'd like to see a way that ensures that jobs just aren't shipped off. Although realizing that technology may make some positions unneeded.

And I'd like some serious rate protection.

Whatever money they made ( you said $2-$10billion ) will be spent before the check is even deposited. I can see Lenny the Lizard throwing it in Shad Khan’s pockets since he’s so smitten with the Jaguars owner for some reason. Maybe Lenny could replenish the pension funds for police and fire that have been destroyed by Lenny and his predecessors
