The difference between Southsiders and those on the Northside and NW side is that on the Northside and NW side, crime doesn't bother them because it's become the norm to hear gunfire or see people getting shot. Throughout my years on the Northside (lived in the Northside 'hood, now stay in 32218), it wasn't nothing for me to hear gunfire or see people laying dead in the street from execution style shootings because most times, they were involved in illegal activity that came back to haunt them. I'm not justifying the madness of the North, West and NW sides of Jacksonville.

Let a shooting or murder happen on the Southside, Southsiders start getting scared and locking doors, buying expensive alarm systems, basically running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Newsflash Southsiders, you guys have had your share of shootings and murders so let's not act like Southside is some utopia because it's far from it.

It’s not Utopia, but most people here on the Southside will say that living here is much, much safer that some other areas in Jacksonville. There have been a few murders here, since we moved here in early 2009, but nothing like what some other areas constantly see.

Anyway, wife and I don’t have to worry much about, because this summer we’re moving back to Colorado and a city of 78,000. Traffic stops make the local news there, not murders.

Wow, I thought for sure you'd moved already. You've been talking about this for 10 years, haven't you?

Where on earth did you get the "10 year" thing????? We've lived here 10 years now, but have only been discussing it for a couple of years. Anyway, due to a major repair on our boat in 2017, couldn't leave last year, like we had planned before the repair.

So, now we are planning on, and packing for, this summer. The Goodwill and Salvation Army are getting a number of things we don't want anymore. We are now paying for a storage spot at a Colorado Boat/RV Storage, so we'll have a spot for a hired transport to drop the boat.

Now on a month-to-month rent, so we only have to give a 30-day notice, not a 60, which it is with signing a lease.

Wife will either get laid-off of her job, due to company relocating to Alabama, or she will quit.

So, we haven't left yet, but it coming.

Actually, FL Landlord-Tenant law states that, on a month-to-month lease, the most notice that can be required for a non-renewal is 15 days. And, that goes both ways. The landlord can non-renew you with as little as 15 days notice, just as you can give them the same 15 days notice. It doesn't matter if your lease has a longer time period, which I'm guessing it does.

Well, Eric you tell this to our complex manager and the company she works for.

All we know is that our lease would’ve ended the first of May, and, out of courtesy of us renting this apartment for the last 10 years, she wanted to let us know that a 60-day Moving Notice would be required, unless we did a month-to-month now. So, we did that. She thought we were moving by May, but we’re not. Colorado can still get snow on Mothers Day Weekend there. We lived there when that happened.

Thing is, Eric, our monthly rent, due to not signing a lease, is going up in May. Signing a lease and then breaking it, due to moving, it's a good thing to have on a rental record. Nope, definitely don't want that.

Only a certain time of the year to move to that area of the U.S. and that's in the summer...…….especially for Seniors in their early 70's (us).

Oh you're moving? Can you provide more details?
