Oceanway or where else to rent? (Jacksonville, Orlando: rentals, townhouses, buy)

Hi all,

I'm moving back to Jacksonville (myself, hubby and 1 year old son)

We lived in Jacksonville for about 10 years until I moved with my job towards Orlando. We lived in East Arlington which was okay but I would not buy again in that area.

Our plan is to rent for a year to give us time to look for a new home ideally I think I'd like to live in Mandarin or St Johns County once we buy. While we are renting we planned to stay more Southside towards the areas we are familiar with.

That said, I see some nice homes in Oceanway and heard some good things. I always said I did not want to live on the North or west side of Jacksonville but I'm wondering about this area since they built up the River City Marketplace.

Thoughts? Looking for house 3 bedroom approx $1500 for rent. Where would you move just for a year or so?

I am not real familiar with the area other than yeah it's grown a ton in the past decade both commercially and residential. I can see there are tons of rentals in your price range with nice newer looking 3BR houses along New Berlin Rd which I think is where the town center area is. I was there picking up someone from the airport a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon and it really busy so I'd say it's thriving. East Arlington IMO has regressed a little and not quite as quaint as it once was but I can't say for sure if it's better or worse than the oceanway aside from East Arlington being closer to more stuff.

I see a few townhouses for rent in northern st johns around your price range but not much else.
