What are your experiences replacing your whole house air conditioning system? Mine seems ok, but it's original to the house which was built in 2000, so I know I'm on borrowed time.

I'm heating & cooling approx 2400 sqft. Any suggestions on reputable companies who will install a quality product for a reasonable price? What have your experiences been replacing your system?

2000???? Holy cow, you hit the jackpot with that system. Ours barely made it 12 years before dying.

They say nothing stops a Trane. I guess they were right. But it's time to put the 'ol girl out to pasture.

We got a Carrier system from Creeks A/C and their price was the best and the service is absolutely first rate. I would wait until cooler weather to get a better price plus you won't roast while its being installed.

Last summer we replaced our crappy Carrier with an energy efficient Trane unit (that qualified for a $300.00 energy credit on our tax return) from Jacob at Willman Air (904) 568-7371. Our electric bill went down about 50% during the cooling months. It cost more up front than cheaper brands but well worth it. I wouldn't waste my money on a Carrier after having them in 2 new homes and needing to replace the evaporator coil after only 5 years on both. I highly recommend Jacob, we were very impressed by his honesty and work ethics.

For what it's worth, in talking to some of the HVAC guys at Donovan's Heating and Air (based out of Jax Beach), they all told me that Carrier is the way to go these days. They're seeing more and more problems with the newer Tranes they're installing.
