What kind of flights go in/out of Jacksonville?

Do most people fly out of Orlando?

i fly to DC often out of jax. always around $230 and its a direct flight. most flights go to atlanta and then to your next destination. its a pretty calm, peaceful not crowded airport, and i have made it to my terminal in 10 mins for the time i get out of my car everytime. its an international also. I would say to fly cheaper to say...vegas? i would consider driving to Orlando. but really Jax is a pretty reliable decent airport.

i fly very often out of jax airport. usually there are connecting flights to the final destination. depending on airline, the connecting cities of course change. if US airways, then it is charlotte, if delta then it is atlanta and so on. there are
delta, us airways, southwest, NWA airlines flying out of here. for more details go to JIA.

security is very fast. at peak times, all lanes are open. it has never taken me more than 15-20 mins to go through it even during peak holiday season.

Orlando is almost 3hrs drive from jacksonville and i don't know if it is worth driving till there(and remember the return trip also!). Having said that, i have had friends go to orlando airport few times for international flights where either the fare was very cheap compared to jax or the airlines didnot link up at jax airport. There are no direct flights from jax to orlando.

Hope this helps

It's an International Airport, but it does seem to lean more heavily to domestic flights.

If you're flying, say to NYC, you'd use JIA/fly out of Jacksonville.

If you're flying to Paris, you'd fly out of Orlando, more than likely. When my family comes in from Europe, they'll fly into Jax if it makes sense to, but often, the better flights for them fly into Orlando, so we pick them up there.

This can give you an idea of some of the non-stop flights we have:

JIA

And just as an FYI, we actually have 4 airports, each with a slightly different use (see "Airport System"):

You can fly most major airlines out of Jacksonville. My wife and I flew US Air from Burlington, VT and only had to make one stop. I think United, Delta and Jet Blue also fly out of Jax.

As a frequent traveler in and out of Jax, you should be aware of one thing.

I work in DC and frequently come home to Jax on weekends (someone has to use those Jaguars season tickets!). When i word down in the Keys on my last contract job, I had to fly back on Sunday nights...well, fly from Jax to Fort Lauderdale, then drive 3+ hours down to Key West.

Now, I can head back to DC on Monday morning, get off the plane at Reagan, hop on the Metro and and arrive at work about 10 minutes later.

I have discovered, however, that JIA is jammed on Monday mornings. I usually fly out around 7:00 AM, and when I arrive at JIA between 5:30 and 6:00 AM, the lines at the security check area run well into the terminal, and sometimes all the way back to the ticket counters.

amy_sk commented that the TSA people are fast, and they do keep the line moving. But I went to the expense of getting a Clear card to get privileged access through security quicker. I can arrive as late as 6:15 for a 7:00 flight and still have time to get coffee and get to the gate on time. Worth the $100 per year.

On the other hand, most other times at JIA are calm and speedy.

Good to know.

Thanks for the tips.

My husband is a frequent flyer and says that the Daytona airport is wonderful. Small and efficient.
