Bought a new VW Jetta Sportwagen recently. Love the car, er wagon, but the one we bought came with yucky hub caps.

Just need a place that has good alloy wheels in town that will put them on for me, all affordably. Nothing fancy here, just trying to get rid of the plastic caps 'cause I know they will get scratched up or lost.

Gracias!

You should consider some of Volkswagens OEM wheels. There are a few in town VW clubs and a website catering to Audi/Lamborghini/VW/Porsche.

www.Jaxdubs.com is the local VW/Audi car club
www.VWVortex.com (http://www.VWVortex.com - broken link) is the international and officially recognized VW enthusiast website.

I'm just going out on a limb here, but I don't believe those are hubcaps that you have, those are aluminum alloy wheels (judging by the picture). If not, like I said, you can find nice OEM VW wheels, that look great. There is someone selling 18" x 7" VW Huffs on the Jaxdubs website for 500-600 bucks, they usually sell for 1000 and come on the VW 2.0T GTI's.

Good info listed above. FYI, if you want to buy NEW wheels, www.tirerack.com is the place to go. Best prices, great selection, ships right to your door and you can take them to your favorite local tire store to have them installed.

The picture I linked to was just for the sake of showing what kind of car it was & the model shown does have alloy wheels. Mine on the other hand does indeed have hub caps. I swear.

I just went to the VW site and the wheels on the base are caps, but I do notice that the next option up is only $450 for alloy rims, maybe you could take it to the dealer and get a decent price or if the car is still newish get them to not charge labor to throw them on. The "build your VW" calls them "16 Mugello Build a Jetta SportWagen

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. I ultimately went with these guys (TireRack.com) & got 4 really nice wheels for only $300! Best deal around.

Now, does anyone know how much a tire place will charge to put them on for me? Anyplace in particular I should go?? Thanks.

I like Discount Tire (I usually go to the one @ Regency), but I usually buy the tires there, so I'm not sure what they charge just for installation (they'll tell you over the phone). I trust them for safety, never had a problem in years and all my family members use them.

Glad it worked out for you...I've bought several tires from tirerack.com and have never been disappointed. Any tire place should be willing to mount/balance for you...I think it's around $10-15 per tire.
